Hi, I’m Claire

Thanks for stopping by

If you’re looking to work with an editor you want someone that you can trust. I know first hand how much thought, time and effort goes into writing something because I’m a writer too. You want your editor to work with you, rather than against you, to help you maximise the clarity and impact of your message.

With over 15 years’ experience of editing and content writing, and as an Advanced Professional Member of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (and the author of their guide on developmental editing for non-fiction), I can help. I specialise in helping people communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences, with a particular focus on health and medicine (including mental health), science and business. I have a PhD in cancer biochemistry, so I do a lot of work for biomedical science organisations, including writing resources for patients.

I initially trained with The Publishing Training Centre while working at Oxford University Press. I founded Beveridge Editorial Services in 2013 after leaving my job to spend more time with my daughter while she was little (my employer’s reluctance to be flexible turned out to be a gift). Qualifying as a certified business strategist has enabled me to bring a new dimension into my work and I love helping other freelancers and solopreneurs to develop their businesses in a way that works for them. When I’m not working I can be found in the garden or crafting.

Take your business to the next level

As well as being an editor and content writer, I’m also a small business owner, and I know only too well how time-consuming and exhausting it is when you’re trying to do everything yourself. There’s so much to learn in the early stages, particularly if you don’t have a marketing or business background, and thinking like a businessperson and ‘selling’ can feel… well… a bit icky.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. The best relationships are built on trust, authenticity and real human connection. That’s why, as well as my editing and copywriting services, I teach systems, skills and strategies that can help your business flourish.

I help you focus on what you’re saying, how you’re saying it and how it’s presented, so you can build a loyal, engaged audience, high-quality reputation and increase your impact, without feeling like you’ve turned into somebody else.

Writing that sounds genuine and conveys your story and personality enables your audience to get know you
